A Rag Picker's Life Values. Santosh = Contentment.

A few days back, I went to a local roadside eatery, known as the 'Laari' selling Vadapav aka the Burger of the west, outside my ex-college.

It was raining heavily and people were searching for temporary shelter.

A young man in his early twenties -  A rag picker with a huge cloth bag around his back passed by. As it was the afternoon time, I went up to him and offered to buy him a  vadapav or two.

I expected a quick positive response given my past everyday experiences of these people.

However, to my surprise, he politely declined my offer saying he's already had his breakfast and he would prefer to have his lunch at a local temple nearby. Besides, he does not prefer Fast Foods such as this.

On asking his name, he replied that he was known as Santosh - Meaning, 'Contentment'. True to his name, he stuck to his values.

It also gave me a life lesson. Contentment and to stay away from Fast Food as long as possible.

A Person Battles His Luck

Just sharing

Rcently,

I met a long time tuition class mate after almost 20 years.

His mother was a government employee in my city. Father passed away long before.

As we met after 20 years, we exchanged pleasantries. Thereafter some life notes.

His mother passed away few years back. The local administration where his mother worked passed a rule that relatives of the diseased can't work in their place after the latter pass away.

Hence, the person, all alone, went abroad for a job, did job there for 2 years, came back, shifted to the end of the city and goes for the current job 15 kilometers away.

All he has is himself. No extended family, no other friends.

A person battles his luck.
